"I love to paint houses and villages, sometimes with characters and often my dog, Minnie. My paintings are always local scenes within about 50 miles of my Carmarthenshire home and although adaptations, I take great care to include precise details - eg type of roof, number of chimneys, road markings etc. Because of this people often comment 'I know that place....' but as my style has distorted their expected view, it takes a while to exclaim 'it's such-and-such a place'.

"This is the best part of showing my work - I know then that I have fulfilled most artists' reason for painting - to communicate on an emotional level the feelings associated with a place (or flowers or portrait.)

"I am not formally trained, but through night classes with a wonderful teacher, Roger Young, was encouraged to develop my 'naive' style which expresses what I wish to convey. At school I was not allowed to take art as I 'didn't paint properly'. This has been a real blessing as I realise that I might have had the vision taught out of me and not have maintained my passion for painting.

"My paintings are primarily fun - it makes me happy to paint them and I hope they make people happy to look at. There is too much distress and pain in the world and much of it, I believe, is brought on by thinking too much. To enjoy my paintings you just need to look and feel - no other interpretation is necessary - unless of course the viewer wishes to.

"I have been painting professionally since about 2000, and am both very suprised and very happy that my work continues to increase in demand. I currently have paintings in collections Wales, UK, Australia, America and Germany, and am represented by galleries both locally and in Cardiff."
